Librarians and the Search Engine

I thought that some might be interested in this article:

Librarians as the Most Reliable Search Tool

The article brought up some good points (some of which we have discussed in class). Also, the people who make comments on the article at the bottom are worth checking out. I especially enjoyed the gentleman (or lady) who accused the ALA of being left-wing and in cahoots with the ACLU.

I agree with Julia, a very on point article.
The comments are fun.
So, we're just like terrorists, eh? What happened to our anxiety about preserving hegemony? Sounds like we're a bunch of radicals.

Having access to all sides of information and the ability to question it all without fear scares some people for whom questioning information sources goes against their cultural norms. My job is not to change their mind about an issue but rather to lead them to all the sources to inform them about issues they want ot know about, while respecting the context of their identity.
